SCENARIO 2:

OFFSHORE DIVING - CHECKLIST

Offshore diving code of conduct encompasses wide range of requirements and checklists covering duties of: persons, clients, and diving contractor;

And diving: project plan, risk assessment, and methods.

 Currently subsea contractors are using mixture of tools to support their offshore diving operations ranging from dedicated project management software, staff management / rota systems and MS Office custom checklists and back up documents.

On the face of it this setup works, and is the current standard, but it does not mean it can’t be improved.

Whenever multiple systems are in place to support a single procedure / operation there is a risk for information not being shared in correct fashion, but more importantly there is an opportunity for increase of efficiency, data consistency and safety.

There are number of major risks when dealing with segmented solutions that support a wider process. In many cases these are overcome by internal manual procedures that mitigate those risks and are deeply embedded within day to day operations. This usually leads to over reliance on individual personnel and makes any changes to the process much more complicated.
