SCENARIO

DELAY ON ACCESSING CLIENT WORK AREA

Audit non-conformances are a common outcome from most of the audits.

In many cases failed audit items can be actioned while auditor is still on site, with full audit conformance awarded prior to vessel mobilisation and leaving the port.

Typical subsea contractor will schedule auditor arrival while vessel is in port, with audit terms of reference and format (usually emailed as a PDF or MS Word).

If audit is delivered on new system or by new auditor, extra man days are required to customise generic audit template (baseline audit) to ensure a complete match with system specification.

From this point subsea contractor will expect audit delivery within an agreed time frame, usually to be completed prior to vessel mobilisation and scheduled departure from port.

In this very traditional scenario, subsea contractor is exposed to multiple risk factors that can significantly delay audit completion:

  • Missing certificates

  • Audit non-conformance requiring parts replacement or servicing

  • Delays on auditor side

Asset/Project Managers will have experience with increased pressure during audit delivery. A single delay can impact project timescale and in more severe circumstances contractor can face contractual penalties as well.

SOLUTION

This is where SB ONE’s features shine and significantly reduce major risks related to audit non-conformance.

Full product integration within subsea contractor application stack and procedures, renders traditional audit delivery obsolete. In this scenario, key risk factors are being addressed by:

Missing Certificates

Technicians and Tech Supervisors are now able to manage certificates within live audits with notifications based on their expiration date. Once certificate has been uploaded into the system, all users allocated to this audit/asset can access it remotely.

Audit non-conformity requiring parts replacement or servicing

Parts of the asset that usually require visual inspection by the auditor, can now be presented in digital format: picture, video recording or live stream. Any potential non-conformances can be identified in advance while vessel is still on route to port which greatly reduces repair / replacement time.

Delay on auditor side

Auditor can now access an audit remotely “LIVE 24/7 365 days per year”. SB ONE already holds custom audit template with key sections pre-populated and pre-checked ready for final validation. Additional evidence can be requested and uploaded while vessel is still at sea, with subsequent recordings added and ready for review instantly. On discretion of certification body that physical inspection is required, subsea contractor can schedule auditor on much shorter timetable that can focus purely on outstanding / physical inspection items.

SB ONE mitigates the risk of the vessel departure from port being delayed by audit non-conformance and greatly reduces need for physical inspection by auditor. The audit delivery process is much more streamlined and standardised by the introduction of LIVE audit templates.

SB ONE allows subsea contractors to set up base audit standards with fixed frameworks that ensure full compliance with standardisation and trade bodies during audit provision by 3rd parties.
